We are all given unique gifts and abilities from God, and serving the church is one of the best ways to discover and use these gifts you have been given. When you serve at Hayshire, you’ll work alongside friends who share the same passions, and you’ll experience the joy of God working through you to make a difference in the lives of your Hayshire family.
We have a variety of serving opportunities for everyone. If you are interesting in getting involved, send us a message!

Ways to Get InvolvedNursery: Help look after our youngest members and guests while allowing their parents to participate in Sunday morning worship and activities.
Messy Church: Join in the excitement by volunteering at our Messy Church for families every other month. We could always use help at our craft stations or to welcome visitors. Learn more about Messy Church on our Ministries page. Faith Time: Enjoy the spirit of our young members and visitors by helping to lead fun faith lessons after the children’s message. Lessons are provided full of ideas, stories, and crafts. Learn more about Faith Time on our Ministries page. Scripture Reader: Participate in the Sunday morning worship service by reading scripture. You will receive a letter the week before the Sunday you are scheduled to read which will include the scripture and prayers you will need for Sunday. Greeters and Welcomers: Be part of our team of greeters on Sunday Mornings to cheerfully welcome visitors and members and hand out bulletins. Usher: We love having our members help collect the offering on Sunday mornings. This includes our youth, women, and men. Volunteer to be a head usher to organize a team of ushers each week. Altar Care: You can help prepare our worship space by changing the paraments, filling the candles with oil, and getting our altar space ready for services. Acolyte: We welcome our older children and adults to offer their service by lighting our altar candles for our worship services. Kitchen Help: Food and fellowship are an important part of Hayshire UCC and you can help make this possible by volunteering in our kitchen. Our team of volunteers enjoy socializing as they prepare the food, set the tables, and wash the dishes. Choir: Share your gift of singing by becoming part of our wonderful choir. Enjoy the fellowship of this group during practices on Wednesday evenings. Learn more about our choir on our Worship page. Lawn Care: Be part of the ministry of taking care of the grounds at Hayshire UCC. We are proud of our church and we would love more volunteers to help with the mowing, weeding, and mulching. Council: There are many areas to share your gifts as you become part of a core group of members who help develop and organize ministries for the congregation and the community. You can be part of our leadership at Hayshire UCC by serving on Church Council. |
Care Team
The Care Team at Hayshire is such a valuable part of our ministry to serve the needs of our congregation. Our volunteers are paired up and go out to visit individuals who are unable to attend regular services and/or are on extended leave due to illnesses. They provide a much welcomed visit and connection to our congregation on a monthly basis. The volunteers also help to keep Pastor Brenda informed on how these individuals are doing and if they could use or are requesting a visit.
What does a Care Team Visitor do? They spend time with the individuals on the visitation list, share some conversation, pray with them, and just make them feel connected and cared for by their Hayshire family.
Would you like to be a Care Team Visitor? We are always happy to add individuals to the team. If you would like to have more information and/or be added to the list, send us a message!
